We practice. We pray. We study. We experiment with new ideas and perspectives. What difference does it make? If we were wanting our savings account to grow but not making investments, it is the same idea.
The time we put in doesn't matter if our underlying beliefs are still the same old doubts and fears masquerading as faith.
